I AM LACTOSE INTOLERANT. IS THERE ANY WAY THAT I CAN STILL EAT CHEESE?
All milk naturally contains lactose, and as a result most cheeses do as well unless the cheese is specifically labeled Lactose Free - in which case this is accomplished by a special enzyme processing of the milk before the cheese is made. With many cheeses as they age the lactose naturally breaks down so some lactose intolerant consumers report that they can enjoy aged cheeses.
IS CHEESE REALLY HEALTHY FOR ME?
Cheese, in general, does not meet the definition of "Healthy", because of the level of milkfat and sodium. However, the US Department of Agriculture recommends two to three servings from the milk, yogurt and cheese group each day. Cheese is low in carbohydrates, particularly naturally aged cheese. A one-ounce serving of cheddar cheese contains just one gram of carbohydrate. And those on reduced sodium diets can still enjoy cheese with Heluva Good! Swiss Cheese.
IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I CAN’T DIP IN HELUVA GOOD! ?
We’ve heard it all – sardines, maraschino cherries, fried crickets – you name it, it’s been dipped. We recommend sticking to edible dipping implements, but if you like to dive right in there with a spoon or a finger – we’re not here to judge.
WHAT HELUVA GOOD! PRODUCTS CAN I FREEZE?
We do not recommend freezing Heluva Good! Dip as the texture of the product will change due to freezing.
Freezing is detrimental to cheese quality and generally not recommended. As the moisture component in cheese freezes, enlarged ice crystals form that disrupt the product structure. This may be perceived as brittleness and other body/texture product defects.
CAN I USE CHEESE ONCE IT HAS MOLD ON IT?
We don't recommend the consumption of moldy cheese.
